overview
Aion
is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) released
by NCsoft, The game combines PvP and PvE in a fantasy game environment.
As of May 20, 2009, Aion has 3.5 million subscribers in Asia. AION's
first major expansion pack was released to North America and Europe on
September 7, 2010 under the name AION: Assault on Balaurea. On February
29, 2012 AION became free-to-play on Europe with a limited set of
options regarding gathering, trade and chat, while North American
Free-to-play launched on April 11, 2012 with no such restrictions.
Races
Aion
has two playable races, the Elyos and the Asmodians. These beings are
split into two factions and are the main powers in Atreia. They are not,
however, the only races.
Daevas
Daevas are
humans, either Elyos or Asmodian, who have achieved Ascension through
hardships or a twist of fate which awakens their potential to become
Demi-Gods.
The Daeva's powers comes from their ability to control
Aether, which very few humans are capable of (even most humans who are
able to control Aether do not achieve ascension).
Elyos:
The
Elyos is one of the two factions of Daeva resulting from the Millennium
War. They are locked in an eternal blood feud against the Asmodians,
whom they hold responsible for the destruction of the Tower of Eternity.
The
Elyos live in the kingdom of Elysea, which spans the lower half of
Atreia. Their environment is filled with light and growth and because of
this, the Elyos have been shaped into having a more lively, vibrant,
"lighter" appearances. They are considered the more beautiful of the two
races. Some of the Elyos also have feathered wings, giving them an
angel-like appearance.
As people, the Elyos can be kind and warm,
if slightly arrogant. No trace of this kindliness can be found when
facing their foes however. The Elyos are fierce, deadly warriors.
The
Elyos serve the Five Seraphim Lords, who helped them build their
capital city of Sanctum and guided them to safety when all seemed lost.
In
older interviews or discussions on the internet, the Elyos may be
referred to as the "Chun" (which is their Korean name), the Chosen, or
the Angelic race.
Due to player interests, the Elyos population
will most probably be larger. Fewer leveling grounds may make players
feel they are leveling more slowly in the beginning (unlike the
Asmodian, who level quickly in the beginning and slow down after
mid-level.
As Elyos characters level, they will earn race specific
skills. Because of this, same classes from the two races will differ
slightly.
Asmodian:
The
Asmodian faction is one of the two factions of Daeva that were created
as a result of the Millennium War. They are locked into an eternal blood
feud against the Elyos, holding them responsible for the destruction of
the Tower of Eternity.
The Asmodians live in the upper
half of Atreia, known as Asmodae. Their capital city is Pandaemonium,
and they follow the five Shedim Lords, the five Empyrean Lords ordered
by Siel and Israphel to protect the upper foundation of the Tower of
Eternity. They live in a darker, more dangerous environment than the
Elyos and have thus been shaped into having a more demonic appearance.
Despite
their looks, the Asmodians are friendly and loyal to their own people.
Their world has made them battle-hardened and powerful.
Originally
part of the Daeva army that served the Empyrean Lords, the Asmodians
joined the Five Shedim Lords on Asmodae after the Tower of Eternity was
destroyed. Blaming the Elyos for the destruction of Atreia, they have
learned to adapt to the harsh and dark climate of their new homelands.
Human:
Humans
were created by the god Aion shortly after the beginning of the world,
as one of the races that the Balaur would rule over. Their culture and
society retained a strong sense of loyalty to their creator. When the
Balaur began to turn tyrannical, bringing most of the Sapiens under
their sway, the Humans were the only people who resisted.
As a
reward for their loyalty, and in order to form a fighting force to
resist the Dragon Lords, Aion began to cause some Humans to ascend as
Daevas.
To this day, all Daevas are born Human, and their
ascension is not assured until the moment it occurs. Daeva and Human
society are closely intertwined, but there are tensions and jealousy
between the two groups, born of the innate inequality of their
relationship.
Players start as a Human, and then ascend to become Daeva.
Shugo:
The Shugo are friendly to both the Elyos and the Asmodians as they are considered a neutral merchant race within Atreia.
Classes
There
are 4 primary classes of Warrior, Scout, Mage and Priest which go from
character creation to Level 9. Each primary class has two sub-classes,
chosen when a character ascends and attains the ability to specialize in
their chosen class. Click on any of the images above for information on
any subclass.
Each class offers different strengths and
abilities, such as healing, tanking, melee or ranged damage dealing, and
a variety of buffs.
Sub Classes are: Templar - Gladiator - Assassin - Ranger - Sorcerer - Spiritmaster - Chanter - Cleric
the claases will need more info so i'll just leave them as this :D
Crafting
The
base process involves learning a particular form of crafting, of which
there are seven in Aion: weaponsmithing, armorsmithing, handicrafting,
tailoring, alchemy, cooking, and construction. Players can learn all
seven crafting professions, but can be an Expert in only two, and a
Master in only one.
Any item that can be crafted is actually
composed of several individual components, or materials. The player can
either learn which materials are needed for a particular item
automatically or via purchase of the design. Generally these materials
must be purchased from vendors or from other players, gathered out in
the wild (via collection or extraction), crafted already, or morphed.
Not everything can be crafted, however.
Quests
There
are three type of quests in Aion: ordinary quests, campaign quests and
Work Orders. Ordinary quests require the player to complete a task to
receive a reward. Campaign quests are focused on story, and are crucial
for player progression. Work Orders are used to increase skill in a
chosen profession. Some quests are repeatable. Some quests, especially
campaign quests, cannot be shared or abandoned.
